You overlook two possible caveats. 1. Where the company has the wisdom to see that what is good for the community is ultimately good for the company. ok, thats rare but dont exclude the chance that it can occur. 2. Where the community is strong enough, and has enough control and power to determine its own future by dint of its will and cooperation (or the withdrawl of that) alone. Specifically in Boards case where 1. Daft have repeatedly said they will leave me alone in charge of the community and whats good for it is good for them... and 2. where it doesnt matter who holds the shares in the "LTD", the mods, admins and users hold the power. Call me a socialist but thats real power and when brought to bear is undeniable. Other then that, I completely agree, in general.
