Time for Fine Gael to grow a pair

After George Lees “toys out of the pram” walk away episode from the Dail yesterday Enda Kennys leadership of the Fine Gael party has to be called into serious question.

The Two Brians of Fianna Fail probably cannot believe their luck, its like all their Christmas’s have come at once. I can just imagine the party atmosphere that must exist at “Developer Friends Towers” in Mount Street after yesterdays spectacle.

But there is an opportunity from this. It is obvious Fine Gael have been held back from surging ahead in the polls because of their current leader. With this ill-judgement and mismanagement from Enda Kenny an opportunity exists for the brave to grasp the nettle and remove him as leader and allow the floating voters of this country stand behind Fine Gael and give the current government the almighty kicking that they deserve at the next election.

The next few days will tell us if Fine Gael are prepared to enter new territory or if its going to be more of the same.

Irish Fudge

…..and we’re not talking about a chocolate bar here either!

After all the talk about having to make tough decisions and that there will be painful times ahead for the Public Service what does the Government have to offer after days of intensive talks with the Unions on saving the country 1.3 billion Euro on the public wages bill?

Unpaid leave? The Government have bottled it, at a time when decisive tough leadership is needed they have delivered the leadership equivalent of a limp handshake.

As per their normal modus operandi FF are putting their interests ahead that of the country again by using a sticking plaster on a wound that needs major surgery. They are leaving the issue of a bloated Public Sector wage bill to the next government showing again a total lack of leadership or commitment to the future of Ireland. Couple that with the fact that enforced unpaid leave like this will diminish front line services even more, then the ordinary taxpayer is going to reap the pain of this short sighted and weak decision as usual.

With regard to the entry level Public Service workers how do they feel now that they are taking the same cuts as their bloated middle and upper management colleagues who they are subsiding. Sounds like the unions have gotten them a “fair deal” alright.

Cowen is going to go down as the most ineffectual and useless FF Taoiseach that we have ever had backed up by an ever more anonymous Cabinet. Given his competition that is an extremely low accolade indeed.

FF the party of bottlers, gougers, spoofers and in some cases criminals.

Butchery in Bolivia – Update

Well still no credible information from the Bolivian authorities.

Mr Dwyer was shot 6 times and some apparently were in the back of the head. The 4th floor of the Hotel according to the manager only shows bullet hole damage in the rooms the men were murdered in and no bullet hole damage in the direction of the assaulting forces. There were no weapons present. There were no deaths or injuries to the assaulting forces (bar maybe sore trigger fingers) which is strange as there was an “intense 30 minute gunfight” according to the authorities.

Yes Mr Dwyer had some interesting and more than likely undesirable company and there are serious questions to be answered as to what their purpose was in Bolivia. However if the regime of Mr Morales want to appear to be better than the plague of right wing junta’s that have afflicted that part of this world in the past I suggest they stop emulating them by using death squads.

My feeling is this deadly Machiavellian sideshow was coordinated to make Morales look like a strong man when he shook Barack Obama’s hand at the Summit of the America’s. It is a hand that is now drenched in Irish Blood.

This was a state sponsored execution.
